Lancashire-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre Holgate House has opened new premises with support from a six-figure funding package from HSBC.

Holgate House, established in 1998, is a privately-owned business which offers residential and day care support to people suffering from addiction and helps people overcome drug dependency.

After leasing a property for more than 15 years in Gisburn, near Clitheroe, Holgate House needed to find a new home when the property’s landlord decided to develop the site and was unable to continue Holgate House’s lease.

With the support of a commercial loan from HSBC, the business was able to purchase a property in Barrowford, near Nelson, seven miles from its former location.

The deal was led by Alastair Woodford, HSBC Commercial Manager for Lancashire, and provided Holgate House with 100% of the property value which enabled the company to cement the business in the area and continue to provide services to both NHS and other local clients.

Currently under renovation, the new premises, which will house up to 18 beds, has been designed to help the residents live independent lives whilst overcoming their addictions. Holgate House is expecting to fully move into the building by the end of the year.

Brian Heyes, HSBC’s area director for Lancashire, said: “The significant funding package provides Holgate House with the financial foundations they need to continue to provide their vital services to the community in Lancashire and North England.

“Holgate House is an ambitious business led by a dedicated and experienced family and we look forward to seeing them continue to provide support to their patients from their new premises.”

Bryan Holgate, director at Holgate House Limited, added: “HSBC’s financial backing and guidance allows us to continue to help people in our community.

“Holgate House began after my wife became manager at a private hospital and wanted to provide additional support for addicts looking to turn their lives around. As a family, we are so committed to the cause and HSBC has enabled us to make the first major step in what will be a bold new direction for the business.”
