The Farm to headline at Oldham music festival

The Farm

Oldham LIVE – the biggest-ever free entertainment and music festival in the town centre – is the only place to be tomorrow (Saturday, September 9), say organisers.

Oldham Council and Revolution96.2 are putting on a day of free family fun offering something for all ages and tastes.

The Oldham LIVE stage is in the new Parliament Square, next to the Old Town Hall complex, and will host a line-up of entertainment and live music – completely free.

From noon onwards, an afternoon of pirate-themed fun led by children’s TV favourite Gemma Hunt, also known as Gem from CBeebies’ Swashbuckle, will offer a series of shows featuring entertainers, puppets, singalong and magic, all running until4pm.

From around 6.15pm a sparkling line-up of established live music acts then take centre stage.

Headlined by The Farm – best known for the anthemic All Together Now – they will be joined by performers appealing to music tastes across the decades including Oldham-raised Kelly Llorenna (featured artist on huge 90s Eurodance tunes like Set You Free) plus Brit and MOBO-award nominees Stooshe, Nathan Moore from 80s boyband Brother Beyond, and a DJ set from Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets.

Attendees should note the list of prohibited items and expect any bags to be searched for safety reasons.

Alcohol will be on sale at the event at licensed venues on-site including Molino Lounge, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Parliament SQ cafe, Nando’s and Smoke Yard – but you may not pre-purchase it elsewhere and bring it into Parliament Square.

Cllr Jean Stretton, Oldham Council leader, said: “Oldham LIVE is going to be a fantastic free event – and a real first for our town centre.”

“People of all ages can come along and enjoy a brilliant line-up of established entertainers and acts in Parliament Square throughout the day and it should be something really special.”

Revolution 96.2 have been partnering Oldham Council to put the Oldham LIVE entertainment line-up together and their DJs – Elliot Eastwick and Dave Sweetmore – will lead the Parliament Square crowds through the event.
