O’Hare returns to lead in Rabbit kitchen

Urbis building

Celebrity chef Michael O’Hare is returning to frontline kitchen activity at his Rabbit in the Moon restaurant, which opened in Manchester’s Urbis building in January.

The Rabbit in the Moon is the latest venture of GG Hospitality of which O’Hare was appointed creative director in 2016. Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs’ GG Hospitality is also the operating company behind Hotel Football.

O’Hare is stepping up to replace head chef Luke Cockerill who has worked with O’Hare at previously – at the Blind Swine in York which closed in 2013, and the Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds.

Cockerill said in The Caterer he was “looking forward to the future and exploring different opportunities”.

O’Hare said: “The past few months have seen a much bigger involvement not just from myself but from the whole team at the Man Behind The Curtain. My team – or family as it has become – are pumped to be cooking in Manchester and will continue to mould the Rabbit in the Moon into a restaurant of international acclaim.

“On a personal note Luke has been integral to the opening of both restaurants and I wish him well in his future pursuits.”

GG Hospitality operations director Stewart Davies said the timing of O’Hare’s return to culinary activities was perfect as the company prepares for the launch of the company’s boutique Stock Exchange Hotel on Norfolk Street in Manchester soon.

He said: “It is incredibly exciting to have Michael more involved in the day to day running of the Rabbit in the Moon. Alongside his current chef patronage at the Man Behind the Curtain, we can expect to see Michael in the kitchen a lot more.”
