Sisters are doing it for themselves

A recruitment company with a difference has been launched by sisters Laura and Emily Leyland.

The start-up is called Fresh Perspective with founder Laura, 33, working from her home in Chorley, Lancashire and Emily, 29, from hers in Bolton.

They have been operational since May and their website is now under construction.

Laura – a lover of the Pug breed of dogs – told TheBusinessDesk.com the idea occurred to them after they had both experience working for recruitment agencies.

Although she said they loved helping companies grow, there are some companies which have given the sector a bad reputation.

“Most people have a horror story related to working with recruitment agencies,” said Laura.

“We want to help employers find the right candidates. By applying the internal model of recruitment to companies.”

The internal model includes helping companies with the interview process, advising on recruitment strategy, candidate attraction, employer branding and social media.

“A lot of agencies just find CVs for companies and don’t recruit directly, whereas we get a lot more involved,” said Laura.

“By using this model, businesses can avoid the considerable expense of agency fees or the productivity time of their own employees if they were to recruit in-house.

“Our combined expertise, ability to get to know people, and the time we invest in both clients and candidates mean that we can whittle down the masses to find the perfect fit for any role, first time.

“Alongside headhunting first-class employees to fill vacancies, we advise clients on interview structure, how to write job specs and adverts, selecting job boards and databases, and how to improve their branding using social media and LinkedIn.

“Outsourcing the recruitment process to us means companies have more time and more money – and who doesn’t want that?”

Since launching, Fresh Perspective has carried out recruitment for Germany-headquartered software company Itelligence, which has offices in London and UK-wide.

Closer to home the company has also helped Chorley financial services specialist Cheetham Jackson as well as Devon-based software company D S Callard.

Laura went on: “Whilst clients receive a professional service from us, like it or not, they are also on the receiving end of our wicked sense of humour as we believe that the working day can be both productive and fun.

“We both possess different skills, but our commonality is that we love working with people, and Fresh Perspective’s philosophy is built around our own personal values; positivity, compassion and most importantly, treating people as we wish to be treated.”
