People on the move: Anwyl Homes; GVA; Bugler Smith; Harts Accountants; Ardenton Capital

Residential developer Anwyl Homes has appointed four new executives as it gears up to increase its turnover to more than £100m over the next three to five years.

The Flintshire-based housebuilder is aiming to significantly increase its presence across the region and has employed the new recruits to help drive growth and achieve its expansion aims in the North West, North Wales and Cheshire.

Graeme Gibb, from Wilmslow, joins as sales director. Working with the sales and marketing team at head office and the homes advisers on site, Gibb takes responsibility for Anwyl’s growing portfolio of developments, overseeing all aspects of the sales and marketing process and customer care.

Mathew Tudor-Owen, from Wrexham, has been appointed to the role of land manager. Previously land manager at another developer, he will work alongside Anwyl’s existing land director to identify and secure new sites that will help the housebuilder expand quickly. One of his first tasks is to find suitable sites for development in the Lancashire area.

Ian McCann and Tom Grundy are the first direct appointments to the recently established Lancashire division.

McCann, from Fleetwood, joins as head of technical taking responsibility for the technical disciplines of design and engineering within the new division, while Tom Grundy, from Warrington, is head of commercial overseeing surveying and procurement for the new division with overall responsibility for expenditure and cost control.

Strong activity in the North West property market has led to commercial property agent GVA growing its Manchester office team to meet the demand.

GVA has appointed eight new members of staff, further strengthening its multi-disciplinary property offer in the region.

Four of the new starters have joined the building consultancy team; one in the investment team; one in planning, development and regeneration team; one in the industrial team, and one in the rating team.

The appointment of Elaine Glasgow – senior building surveyor, Andy Brooks – senior quantity surveyor, Rhian Griffiths – quantity surveyor, and Fergus Lowry – building surveyor has bolstered the building consultancy team.

Matt Jones joins the investment team as a surveyor; Ella Woodward joins planning, development and regeneration as a development surveyor; Tristan Wooller joins the industrial team as senior surveyor; and Toby Bolton joins the rating team as a surveyor.

Brand communications agency Bugler Smith has appointed Simon Broadbent as its new creative director.

Broadbent brings with him almost 30 years of experience in the creative industry. He previously worked with clients including Matalan, Next and The Co-operative and held roles at TBWA and Amaze.

His appointment is part of significant growth plans for the Cheshire-based agency, and he is joined by two other senior hires.

Stephanie Fisher joins as head of social strategy within the PR and social team, while senior account manager Danielle Coletta arrives after spending five years as marketing manager at Just Eat.

Bugler Smith’s founder and managing director Lee Ashton said: “Simon’s creative talent and experience will play a key role in our next phase of planned growth.

“He joins at an exciting time for the agency and will support our reputation for delivering outstanding creative output.

“The additional appointments of Stephanie and Danielle will add strength to the account management and PR and social teams, which have both grown significantly in the last two years.”

The privately owned business works for clients including Pets at Home, Rentalcars.com, Ripe Insurance and Vets4Pets.

Fisher joins Bugler after spending four years in Australia, where she worked on integrated social campaigns for clients such as Voss Water, Weight Watchers, Pizza Hut, JBL and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

Having spent the last five years as marketing manager at Just Eat, Coletta will assist the growing account management team and take on responsibility for delivery of events and integrated experiential activity.

Ashton said: “Stephanie’s appointment strengthens the PR and social team, boosting our social offering, to support our integrated approach to campaigns.

“With fantastic experience of delivering digital and experiential activity, Danielle will add further experience to the account management team.

The Macclesfield-based company Harts Accountants has announced the appointment of Chris Bentley to the position of tax and forensic director.

Melissa Bowers, director said: “We are exited to promote Chris to director level. His superb wealth of tax and forensic expertise further strengthens Harts’ offering to clients.”

Bentley joined Harts Accountants from the Manchester office of Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) in February, 2014.

He specialises in corporate, personal and business taxes, but also forensic accountancy, including research and development, tax relief claims, business restructuring and business valuations.

Allan Dunn will join the UK team of the Manchester-based private equity investor Ardenton Capital as head of strategic development.

Dunn joins directors Mike Bradbury and Iain Marlow. He will be responsible for working closely with the management teams investments and for building out Ardenton’s strategic and operational teams in the UK.

Prior to joining Ardenton, Dunn was chief operating officer at Piksel, joining the business when it was known as Ioko.

He was instrumental in building the business from 30 employees to a headcount of upwards of 350, eventually being acquired by global company, KIT Digital, for a net consideration of £66m.

It was later renamed Piksel. A chartered accountant, Dunn has previously held roles at PWC and Aberdeen Asset Management.
