Hurricane Ophelia causes multiple flight cancellations

Manchester Airport

More than flights in and out of Manchester Airport have been cancelled today as a result of incoming weather from the tail-end of Hurricane Ophelia.

A spokesman from the airport said the cancellations affected 11 flights departing and nine arriving.

Destinations affected included Cork, Knock, the Isle of Man and Heathrow.

“Passengers should contact airlines to check if flights are operating,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, airline Flybe said 170 flights nationally were cancelled. These include those serving Belfast, Dublin, Knock and the Isle of Man.

A statement said: “The safety of our passengers and crew is our number one priority and Flybe will, as always, do everything possible to minimise any disruption.”
