Liverpool approves three-tower scheme

More than 600 apartments will be created in three new blocks at Bevington Bush under plans approved by Liverpool City Council.

The scheme has been designed by architects Falconer Chester Hall for Bevington Developments and comprises buildings of between nine and 17 storeys in height, plus improved landscaping and public realm.

The development, set back from Scotland Road, sits within the emerging Limekiln/Pumpfields district, identified in the City’s Strategic Investment Framework as having the potential to form a northern expansion of the city centre.

The 614 apartments in total will include a mix of studio, one and two-bed units across the three buildings each with their own entrance lobby and cycle store, while the 17-storey building will also contain a gym for residents’ use.

This scheme replaces an earlier consented scheme for more than 1,000 units of student accommodation.

“This development will make a strong visual statement close to a busy route into the city centre, removing the considerable blight which currently exists,” said senior architect Robert Brym.

“It will also demonstrate the confidence of further new investment into the city and help reinforce the appeal of the commercial district by providing quality accommodation close to this important employment area.”

Construction of the new buildings will see the demolition of two warehouse buildings, one of which is derelict.
