Contractor appointed on multi-million pound Southport scheme

Bardsley Construction has scooped a contract to deliver a £7.5m retirement development in Southport.

Greater Manchester-based Bardsley has been appointed by Gladman Homes to provide 55 apartments with care and communal facilities at Alexandra Road.

The 67,000 sq ft development comprises four-storey brick building with timber roof, residents’ lounges and dining facilities, landscaping and car parking.

Working alongside Bardsley are John McCall Architects, structural and civil engineers Opus International and quantity surveyors and employer’s agent, Stringer & Pickford.

Construction of the scheme is due to start in December with completion planned for March 2019.

Ged Rooney, procurement director, Bardsley Construction, said: “The award of this valued contract by Gladman Care Homes is further evidence of Bardsley reaping the rewards of its hard-earned reputation for the successful delivery of specialist care facilities in the North West and Yorkshire.”

Karen Gladman, director and owner of the Gladman Group, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Bardsley Construction on our new development of retirement living apartments in Southport and look forward to forming a great working relationship with them in the future.”
