Developer starts on £30m housing schemes

Cheshire-based developer Mulbury has started work on four new housing schemes in the North West worth around £30m.

The projects will see a total of 245 new homes built on sites in Southport, Salford, Warrington and Partington.

The schemes will take the number of homes currently under construction by Mulbury to around 650. Mulbury also has a further 550 units in the pipeline for the next 12 months.

Greg Mulligan, co-founder and director of Mulbury, said: “We continue to enjoy steady and sustainable growth and we’re entering another exciting period for the business.

“In the affordable housing sector, demand for new sites from housing providers remains high and there’s a variety of funders willing to invest in new schemes.

“As well as our work for housing providers, we’re developing a greater number of sites for private sale and our city centre residential also has a strong pipeline. Having completed two forward-funded deals with two separate institutional investors in the last 12-months, we remain confident about funder appetite in the North West build-to-rent market.”

Mulbury’s latest sites to get underway are:

Southport: 153 homes on a site next to Southport Hospital on behalf of Torus housing group.
Warrington: 46 homes on the site of the former Hawthorne Business Park on behalf of Plus Dane Housing.
Salford: 24 homes off Willows Road for private sale by Mulbury Living.
Partington: 22 homes off Lock Lane for Trafford Housing Trust.

Mulbury is on site with two major private rented sector schemes in Manchester through its Mulbury City brand. It is developing 135 PRS apartments at Port Street in the Northern Quarter and 143 PRS apartments at Blossom Street in Ancoats.
