Salford Central resi site set for £5m apartment building

Construction Partnership UK (CPUK Group) has won the contract to build a £5m apartment scheme in one of the last remaining vacant plots at Chapel Street in Salford.

Altrincham developer Novo Property Group has appointed the West Lancashire-based firm to build the Albert Vaults, an eight storey building with 25 apartments and a commercial unit at the corner of Chapel Street and Spaw Street.

The development, targeted at owner occupiers, is located on the site of the former Albert Vaults pub, close to Salford Central Station.

The delivery team includes AFL Architects, Curtins, TACE and AA Projects.

Steve Burke, managing director of CPUK, said: “This is a very restricted site with many logistical challenges; we’ve been working with Novo and the design team for over a year on this scheme – it’ll be great to get it moving at last.

“Chapel Street and the wider Salford area where it borders Manchester is undergoing massive regeneration with a lot of multi-storey residential schemes.

“Albert Vaults offers something a little different for residents; it’s on a more compact scale facing the former Manchester Modernist Society headquarters and the Grade II-listed Chapel Street and Hope United Reform Church.”

This is the second scheme from Novo on Chapel Street in recent years.
