Lake District manor house sold from £1.35m asking price

Ravenstone Manor

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has sold Ravenstone Manor in Keswick, Cumbria from an asking price of £1.35m.

Nestled within three hectares of gardens, the hotel commands one of the most spectacular locations in the heart of the Lake District with sweeping views of Bassenthwaite Lake and the surrounding Cumbrian countryside.

Originally built as a Dower house for Lady Charlotte Howard in 1860 as a place of rest and relaxation, the property combines the very best of modern touches with period Victorian features.

The hotel includes 20 recently refurbished en suite bedrooms offering fantastic panoramic views of the open country, an additional detached one-bedroom cottage with French windows leading to a private patio and a two bed owner’s accommodation.

Previous owner Martin Oakley has restored and updated Ravenstone Manor and made the decision to sell to relocate closer to family.

The property has been sold to local operators, the Mawdsley family with the acquisition being the next natural purchase for the continued expansion of the family’s hotel and leisure enterprise Mawdsley Bleachers Ltd.

Keith Stringer, associate director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said: “Following a short period of open marketing with us, a deal was agreed within four weeks, with completion eight weeks later.”
