Northern Powerhouse Conference postponed

The Northern Powerhouse Conference scheduled to take place in February, 2018 has been postponed with no reason given.
A message from the Leeds-based private company sent to those who had already bought tickets for the event read: “Unfortunately we have to inform you that we have taken the extremely difficult decision to postpone the Conference. Please accept our sincere apologies for this.”
Director of UK Northern Powerhouse Ltd Martin Venning said that the event due to take place at Manchester Central had been postponed rather than cancelled.
He told The Manchester Evening News: “We will be making a further announcement on this very shortly but the bottom line is that it is postponed.”
And he pledged to refund oganisations who had already paid for tickets saying: “This is very important to the way that we operate so there is no question that anyone who has committed funds will not be receiving them.”
Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) director Henri Murison also told the newspaper: “The Northern Powerhouse Conference was organised by an independent commercial organisation which has taken the decision to postpone the event.
“I feel strongly that there is genuine support for the Northern Powerhouse from businesses across the north, and a renewed focus from Government, as evidenced by the funding commitments in the Budget and Industrial Strategy.
“It is important that the North works together to promote its strengths and attract funding from Government on fundamental issues that matter to everyone in the region, such as transport, education and further devolution.”
