Sale of former college site completes

A former sixth form college site in Manchester is set to be transformed into a residential scheme following its sale to a developer for an undisclosed sum.

CBRE in Manchester completed the sale of the site on Clarendon Road in Hyde, Manchester to Taylor Wimpey.

Outline planning permission has already been granted for the development of around 96 residential units.

The 6.77 acre site is the former Clarendon Sixth Form College, which in 2015 relocated to Ashton and is accessible directly off Clarendon Road.

John Dunlop, director, national land and development team in Manchester, said: “The prime site is located in close proximity to Hyde Town Centre with local and key transport links to access the wider Manchester area.

“The new development in Hyde will contribute to meeting the local and national need for new homes and will also bring benefits to the community, including job creation, apprenticeships and increased economic activity in the local area.”
