The topping out ceremony at the £74m X1 Tower on Liverpool waterfront has taken place.

Property consultancy Knight Knox and X1 Developments reached the significant milestone with the completion of the fifth and final phase at X1 The Quarter.

The topping out of the final phase marks a symbolic stage of a five-year project that has seen 693 residential apartments brought to the local rental market.

To mark the occasion X1, Knight Knox and architects Falconer Chester Hall attended the ceremony in which a concrete slab was laid, and a tree was placed on the top floor in a traditional gesture that is believed to bring luck to the development in the years to come.

The scheme has been built by Vermont Construction and comprises a mixture of high-end homes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments and a selection of townhouses.

Vermont chief executive Mark Connor said: “Having been involved in the scheme from its inception and delivered the previous phases of the award-winning scheme with X1 Developments, the topping out of X1 The Tower is an extremely proud moment for us all.

“The landmark tower provides an exciting addition to the Liverpool waterfront and skyline, and will deliver the final piece of the jigsaw on an extremely successful development for X1, Vermont and the region”.

The multi-phase development has breathed new life into a long derelict area close to the city centre and world famous Albert Docks, creating a new gateway to Liverpool that can be enjoyed by the local residents.

Andy Phillips, commercial director at Knight Knox, said: “The topping out of X1 The Tower marks an important milestone for both Knight Knox and X1 and is the culmination of five years’ hard work that has delivered a substantial enhancement to the local area.”

“With the redevelopment of the Liverpool waterfront underway, the apartments at X1 The Quarter are a fantastic addition to the rental market and we are certain that the apartments at X1 The Tower will prove just as popular as those contained within the previous four schemes.”

Melissa Green, operations and regional director at X1 added: “We are delighted to launch X1 The Tower to the rental market, bringing a mix of stunning studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments to this vibrant area of the city.

“It has been fantastic to contribute to the rapid expansion of the area and play a part in the development that has taken place over the past five years – transforming the Baltic Area into the popular social hub it has become today.”

X1 The Tower at X1 The Quarter will be let and managed by lettings agent X1 Lettings and is expected to be completed in Q3 2018.
