Law firm lands three-year housing association deal

Law firm Brabners has been appointed to the legal panel of one of the UK’s largest housing associations in a three-year deal.

Riverside, headquartered in Liverpool, manages more than 50,000 homes nationwide across 160 local authorities. Brabners will advise on a number of core areas including property and development, governance, commercial, employment and housing management.

Brabners operates extensively in the social housing sector, supporting more than 80 associations across the UK including Your Housing Group and Liverpool Mutual Homes. The firm has worked with Riverside since it was founded as Liverpool Improved Homes in 1928.

The creation of the new legal panel was procured with specialist legal consultancy Kennedy Cater.

Ian Alderson, partner at Brabners, said: “The government has made it clear that it wants housing associations to play a much bigger role in meeting the UK’s incredible demand for more homes. As one of the country’s larger associations, Riverside is integral to this plan. Its ambitious development programme is boosting housing supply and improving some of the most challenging neighbourhoods in the UK.

“Being included on this legal panel reflects the strong partnership we’ve cultivated with Riverside over nearly a century of working together. It’s encouraging for us as a practice to see such an important player in social housing recognise our position as a leading adviser to the sector.”

Brabners is joined on the panel by Anthony Collins Solicitors, BLM, Devonshires, DWF, Forbes Solicitors and Trowers & Hamlins.
