Housebuilder sets up for six developments in six months

The Lancashire division of housebuilder Redrow is set to launch six new developments in the next six months.

The Chorley-based arm of the company, which operates across Lancashire and parts of Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, also said that a successful past six months for its Lancashire division indicates the regional market remains strong.

In the half year ending December 31, 2017, Redrow Lancashire – one of 14 operating divisions in England and Wales – purchased five new sites, which will create a total of six sales outlets, adding more than 700 plots to the land owned with planning land bank.

Once complete, the developments will have a total sales value in excess of £200m, while supporting hundreds of jobs.

During the last six months, Redrow Homes (Lancashire) launched developments at two locations; Tabley Green, in Fulwood, near Preston, and Oldfield Park, in Poulton-le-Fylde, and completed its Woodville Gardens development in Moston, Manchester, the final phase of a regeneration project that has helped to transform the neighbourhood with 361 homes in five different locations.

Over the next six months, the Lancashire division plans to launch new developments at Dover Meadows, Maghull; Oakleigh Gardens in Barrow near Clitheroe; The Grange at Yew Tree Park in Burscough, West Lancashire; Fox Meadows in Chadderton near Oldham; and two outlets as part of the wider Omega redevelopment in Warrington – The Brook at Taylor’s Chase and The Oaks at Taylor’s Chase.

The Chorley based operation, with its offices at Buckshaw Village, directly employs 175 staff – of which 15% are apprentices and trainees – while providing work for dozens of subcontractors across its various building sites.

Steve Greenhalgh, managing director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “We’re looking forward to an exciting next six months with the launch of six new sales outlets, which will eventually bring 723 high quality homes to the region and help meet strong demand for quality new homes. We’ll also deliver 111 affordable homes among that total and community benefits worth around £7 million.

“We’re continuing to receive high levels of interest in our existing homes for sale and are already building strong databases of potential purchasers for our developments that are set to launch over the next few months.”

Nationally, Redrow reported strong growth earlier this month, delivering record results, for the first half of the financial year, with legal completions increasing by 14% to 2,811 and pre-tax profits up 26% to £176m.
