Progress at university’s £32m Engineering Innovation Centre

New drone photography has been released illustrating the progress of the construction of the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) £32m Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC).
A key project of its £200m masterplan, the facility will help to create more than 500 engineers of the future, per year.
The EIC will further establish UCLan as a leader in engineering innovation, and is anticipated to produce hundreds of locally trained graduates per year in areas including aerospace, mechanical and energy technologies and engineering.
Identified as a signature project within Lancashire’s Strategic Economic Plan, the EIC has secured £10.5m via the Lancashire Enterprise Partnerships’ Growth Deal with the Government.
The new facility has also received £5.8m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and £5m from HEFCE’s STEM Capital Fund.
Manchester-based BAM Construction is on schedule to complete the building in early 2019.
