Law firm move into new building as part of expansion plans

Express Solicitors on the move

Personal injury law firm Express Solicitors is moving into a new building close to its current Manchester headquarters.

The move will take its office space to 21,000 sq ft and allow it to further expand with the recruitment of a further 25-30 personal injury lawyers across all departments by the end of 2018.

Around 40 employees from the firm’s new client team and sister medical company, Ontime Reports, will move to the new 3,000 sq ft building around 50 metres from its offices on Palatine Road, Northenden.

The move is part of Express Solicitors’ ambitious growth strategy that has seen the firm increase both its caseloads and turnover by an average of 20% year on year over the last five years.

The firm is on target towards reaching its goal of reaching £20m turnover within three years.

In February, Express Solicitors acquired Edwards Hands and Lewis’s book of PI work, taking its total number of caseloads to 9,650.

As part of the expansion, Express Solicitor recently promoted six lawyers in its team, with Amy Cassell, Catherine Moore and Jennifer Lutton being made Associate Solicitors while Calum Franklin, Deepa Patel and Tom Pinney have become Trainee Solicitors.

Express Solicitors’ Managing Partner, James Maxey said: “We’ve bought this new building in preparation for a year in which we will substantially increase our number of caseloads and take on new employees, including legal secretaries, to help us deal with this extra work.

“Promoting talented and hardworking staff from within is an integral part of our plans too.  It’s important for us to demonstrate to our employees that they can progress their careers here.

“As always, we have strong ambitions and while we will continue to train, develop and promote from within, during 2018 will also recruit quality lawyers who are committed to providing the expertise and service levels our clients have come to expect.”

2017 was a good year for Express Solicitors; it was once again ranked in the Legal 500 guide, with seven of its team classed as Recommended Lawyers, and the firm moved up 10 places in The Lawyer UK 200 to 151.

Express Solicitors also reported its best ever financial results, with year-end figures increasing 12% from £12.3m in 2016 to £13.75m in 2017 and its sister medical company Ontime Reports Limited contributing a further £3m.
