12 of region’s restaurants make it on to the UK’s top 100 list

Twelve restaurants in the North West have been named in a list of the top 100 outside of London.

The rankings are compiled by dining website SquareMeal.co.uk from thousands of votes.

The 12 restaurants in the region included L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria, which was the highest in the list at number two behind Bristol’s Casamia.

The next highest was Fraiche in Birkenhead followed by Moor Hall in Ormskirk.

The others were Where The Light Gets In in Stockport, Lake Road Kitchen in Ambleside, the Sticky Walnut in Chester, Forest Side in Ambleside, Freemasons at Wiswell, Adam Reid at the French at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, Rogan and Co, Grange-over-Sands, Northcote near Blackburn and the Burnt Truffle in Wirral.

The top five restaurants in the UK were: Casamia, Bristol; L’Enclume, Cartmel; The Sportsman, Seasalter; Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Oxfordshire and The Fat Duck in Maidenhead.
