2030hub is looking for Liverpool’s best businesses

The search is on for Liverpool’s best businesses to participate in United Nations initiative 2030hub.

Liverpool is host to the first United Nations Local 2030hub.

With the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals at it’s core, 2030hub was created to support the entrepreneurs of Liverpool in making the city an even better place to live and work.

They are seeking organisations, large and small, from every sector, that display entrepreneurial spirit and innovation and create social and environmental impact beyond job creation.

Along with 192 other countries, the UK Government opted into the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals in 2015.

The goals set out a vision for ending poverty, fighting inequality and stopping climate change by the year 2030.

The UN recognises that it is on a local level that much of the work must take place if it is to be realised.

In July 2017 the UN Local2030 initiative was launched, with Liverpool acknowledged as a pioneer.

David Connor, founder of 2030hub, explained: “To be considered one of Liverpool’s best businesses, an organisation will need to demonstrate boldness and bravery.

“The sustainable development goals urge us to focus on reaching the furthest behind in society first, so we want to hear from organisations tackling the toughest social and environmental challenges in creative ways.

“They also don’t have to be non-profit. In many cases, profitable businesses have significant ability to make long-term sustainable contributions to their communities. We’re here to help and support the visionaries and entrepreneurs in every sector.”

He added: “We are already working with lots of organisations, locally and internationally, that are having a tremendous positive impact on the Liverpool City Region.

“Now we want to find and nurture even more, so that we can facilitate knowledge sharing and provide a platform to help them thrive.”
