Motorists warned to avoid M6 in Lancashire

Motorists are being warned to avoid the M6 in Lancashire following an accident involving a trailer carrying livestock.

The incident is causing severe delays on the southbound carriageway of the motorway from Lancaster to Preston.

A spokesperson for Highways England said: “The M6 in Lancashire is experiencing long delays southbound between J33 and J31A due to an incident involving a car and an overturned trailer carrying livestock between J32 and J31A.

“A specialist recovery crew are en-route to the scene.

“Road users may wish to consider alternative routes and are advised to allow extra time for their journey.”
