Communications firm aims for £200m turnover

Salford-based communications specialist The Nycomm Group is pushing ahead with expansion plans as it aims to hit the £200m turnover barrier.

The company, which has renamed its headquarters Julian Niman House as a tribute to its former chairman and founder who passed away earlier this year, employs around 390 staff and increased turnover from £94m to £125m last year.

Nycomm works with big names such as BT, Panasonic, EE and Unify, and its main trading divisions include Nimans, Rocom, Pennine and Videonations.

Earlier this year, the business completed a multi-million pound warehouse expansion which has seen its floor space increase by a third.

Work began last spring to expand the company’s site from 36,000 sq ft to almost 50,000 sq ft at Agecroft.

The expansion gave the business more order processing space to handle an increase in pallet volumes and order tonnage, which are up 50% year-on-year.

Julian Niman’s wife Sue Niman said: “When Julian first started this company from a small office it was beyond his wildest dreams that it would ever have grown into this size.”
