Class of 92 university announces first principal
The university set up by former Manchester United stars has appointed its first principal.
University Academy 92 (UA92) has announced that Professor Craig Gaskell will be taking up the role of Principal and chief executive from September.
Professor Gaskell is joining from Coventry University where he was Professor of Higher Education Enterprise and founding Provost of CU Scarborough, Coventry’s thriving new campus on the Yorkshire Coast.
He said: “I am privileged and delighted to be taking up this exciting leadership role in one of the most innovative and forward thinking institutions in the sector.
“UA92 is founded on strong partnerships, fresh thinking and a drive to ensure students have a first-class modern university experience that is genuinely life changing.
“I am very much looking forward to working with all partners and the developing team to ensure UA92 becomes a sector leader.”
Gary Neville, founder of UA92, said: “I am very much looking forward to working with Professor Gaskell and the rest of the UA92 team to deliver this game-changing university.
“Our vision is to create a new and exciting education opportunity for students that delivers great results and equips them with the skills they need for promising futures.”

UA92 is the brainchild of the Class of ’92 team mates Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and has been developed with Lancaster University.
It will take its first cohort of students in September 2019. The first Open Day at UA92 will take place on 21st July 2018 at Lancashire County Cricket Club.
