Green light for Gary Neville’s Old Trafford project

PLANS by former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville to builld a supporters’ centre and hotel next to the Old Trafford home of the club, have been approved by Trafford Council.

The scheme comprises a 139 bed hotel, with leisure uses and a supporters’ club for all fans on both match day and non match day.

Manchester-based RED Property Services is acting as development manager for the Old Trafford Supporters Club.

Anthony Kilbride of RED said: ““We are delighted with the planning decision  and look forward to working with the project team over the coming months to get this exciting scheme onto site as quickly as possible.

“The aim is to get the building open for the start of the 2014/15 football season”.

Manchester United FC had originally supported the planning proposal, but in February raised a number of objections about it,  and flagged up concerns over parking, and said it was not in in line with “the club’s holistic vision for the continuing enhancement of the area surrounding the stadium”.
