Former jam factory

The former Robertson’s jam factory in Manchester has been put up for sale.

CBRE’s Manchester Land and Development team has been instructed Willsgrove Developments Limited to sell the former jam factory site at Ashton Hill Lane in Droylsden in conjunction with Harris Lamb.

Outline planning has been submitted with a view to building up to 330-home estate on the land and offers are invited by Friday July 20th.

The largely flat site extends to 20 acres and is currently vacant.

Formerly home to the historic Robertson’s Jam Factory, the brownfield site is located in a predominantly residential area off Manchester Road and has been empty since 2006.

The site is conveniently located between the A662 Droylsden Road and A635 Manchester Road approximately 3.5 miles to the east of Manchester city centre.

The site benefits from excellent transport links with the M60 and regional motorway network accessed approximately one mile to the north east at Junction 23.

It is also very well served by the Metrolink network, with Droylsden tram stop located just 250 metres to the north west.

John Dunlop, Director for CBRE’s Land and Development team in Manchester, said: “We are delighted to bring to market the Droylsden site.

“Having formerly housed the Robertson’s Jam Factory, the site is ideally located to the east of Manchester City Centre with excellent transport links.

“The planning submitted for approximately 330 residential units, if approved, will ensure the community of Droylsden continues to thrive and address housing shortage in the area.”
