HRC Law advises on third lease for NHS service provider

Full service commercial law firm, Manchester-based HRC Law, has secured a lease on a further site for NHS eye care service provider, SpaMedica, in Skelmersdale.
SpaMedica, also based in Manchester, is one of the UK’s leading providers of NHS cataract surgery, YAG Capsulotomy and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) treatments.
Celebrating their 10th year of business this year, the company was founded by chief executive Anil Pitalia.
The company has eight eye hospitals across the UK with the new Skelmersdale branch taking the total to nine. The business is the second largest provider of cataract services in the UK, performing more than 15,000 surgeries per year.
This latest lease in Whelmar House, Skelmersdale, is the third site that HRC Law has secured for the eyecare provider.
The new hospital opened on June 1, and is providing AMD diagnosis and treatment services for patients across West Lancashire. SpaMedica was selected by West Lancashire CCG to provide this service following a recent tender selection process.
HRC Law also advised on the lease for their hospital in Sheffield which opened in October 2017 and a site at Apex House in Birmingham, which opened in May 2018.
All transactions have been led by commercial property partner at HRC Law, Helen Marsh.
She said: “SpaMedica’s impeccable reputation has been built on their delivery of outstanding patient care. This standard is underpinned by world-class facilities and, as the group grows, it’s absolutely fundamental that new hospitals provide the infrastructure to continue raising the bar.
“We are delighted to secure another premises to further the business on their journey.”
Mr Pitalia said: “We are focused on delivery the highest standards of patient care and only work with partners who share our vision.
“It’s refreshing to work with a team who are as equally committed to the highest standards of quality as ourselves and support us fully throughout every stage of the transaction.”
The firm’s property department has handled numerous other high profile deals during the past 12 months, including advising NICCE clothing on its lease of new warehouse and office space in Shoreditch and acting on behalf of The Fragrance Shop to secure its flagship Oxford Street store.
