Bold new opening for North West photography chain

Liverpool’s Bold Street is set to welcome a new retailer as Wilkinson Cameras opens on July 16.

The North West photography chain is moving in to the 2,144 sq ft unit at 4 Bold Street, on a 10-year lease.

The unit was formerly occupied by menswear firm Greenwoods.

The business was previously located on Lord Street, where it has traded for the past five years.

Wilkinson Cameras has nine stores across the North West, including Southport, Preston, Lancaster and Warrington.

The new opening secures seven jobs within the business, with the potential to increase further.

Established in 1986, Wilkinson Cameras is one of the leading independent photographic retailers in the UK, both in-store and online.

It offers a huge range of DSLR, digital cameras, video equipment and accessories from top brands such as Canon, Sony, Nikon, Leica and Manfrotto.

The Bold Street unit is situated on a prominent position fronting Bold Street and Church Street and benefits from a yearly footfall of approximately 16 million.

Nearby retailers include Wildwood Kitchen, Caffe Nero, Card Factory, Holland & Barrett, The Body Shop and Costa Coffee.

In addition, the property benefits from its close proximity to Liverpool Central Station.

David Parkinson, managing director at Wilkinson Cameras, said: “We’re really excited about our new store. Liverpool has been a great home for our flagship shop since we moved to the city in 2013.

“This new space will allow us to offer photographers and videographers in Liverpool and surrounding areas an even better shopping experience in one of the most creative parts of the city.”

Hitchcock Wright & Partners and JLL London acted as joint agents.

John Barker, partner at Hitchcock Wright and Partners, said: “Wilkinson Cameras is a thriving independent retailer and its new branch on Bold Street will complement the area’s vibrant mix of independents and national chains.”
