Hospitality group appointed to two Liverpool hotels

The planned Baltic property

Hotelier and serviced apartment operator EPIC Hospitality Group has been appointed under a management contract to run two hotels in Liverpool being developed by Elliot Group.

The luxury hotel brand, run by hotelier Simon Beer, will assume management control of a £20m property in Liverpool’s Seel Street immediately.

The 128-room hotel, in the city’s historic Ropewalks neighbourhood, is nearing completion and will boast rooftop hotel suites, with terraces providing unobstructed views of the city, a residents’ bar and gym.

An outline deal for a second hotel in the city’s trendy Baltic neighbourhood – home to its burgeoning tech and creative scene – has been agreed, allowing work to start on site next month.

The £70m, 306-bed property will enjoy stunning views across Liverpool’s south docks to the Welsh mountains and will also offer guests a roof-top pool, spa and lounge.

Both sites will also incorporate a food and beverage offer, yet to be announced.

Simon Beer, managing director of EPIC Hospitality Group said: “We’ve been at the cutting edge of the apart-hotel movement for a number of years and this deal allows us to expand our portfolio further to encompass the luxury four-star hotel experience.

“The EPIC brand’s pioneering approach is being recognised throughout the sector and is making us a ‘go-to company’ for developers to partner with.

“Both the Seel Street and Baltic properties are in distinctive neighbourhoods with a dynamic vibe and, as one of Liverpool’s finest independent hotel groups, we’ll seek to reflect that character in our service offer and in the interior décor.”

Welcoming the appointment, Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group said: “Simon and his team have a shelf-full of awards for their outstanding hospitality and their tripadvisor reviews say it all.

“They’re a great partner who understand the Liverpool market intimately, and also how to work with historic properties like our Seel Street hotel. I’m delighted to have them on board.”

The four-star Seel Street Hotel by Epic, part of Elliot Group’s wider transformation of Wolstenholme Square, is scheduled to open in November. Work on the Norfolk Street property in Baltic is expected to start on-site in October.

The deal with EPIC follows the ending of discussions with PVA Hospitality to manage both properties.

Commenting on the breakdown of discussions, Elliot Lawless said: “After reaching an in-principle agreement with PVA we just couldn’t get the deal over the line. It happens sometimes.

“We’re delighted with our agreement with EPIC and I’m looking forward to the Seel Street opening party.”
