Manchester Metrology celebrates expansion

Paul Bulman

Measurement expert Manchester Metrology is expanding and investing in the firm, which next month celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Next week the company, which specialises in the inspection of engineered components, is moving into new premises in the Wellington Centre, Ashton-under-Lyne, which are five times larger than its current site in Droylsden.

And a £700,000 financial injection is aimed at sustaining the £1.7m-turnover firm’s progress by investing in the latest technology.

Metrology is the science of measurement and an open day at the firm’s new 5,300 sq ft premises on August 1, will showcase its skills with a live metrology event.

This will be attended by the leading providers in the metrology sector, such as Verisurf, Faro, Optimax, and Hexagon Metrology.

Managing director Paul Bulman said: “It is such a huge honour to be joined by so many leading metrology suppliers at what is, for us, a great celebration of 10 very exciting years.

“It is a great testament to the dedication and commitment of our team to be able to host such an event.”

Clients include industrial heavyweights such as global machine manufacturer JCB, engineering giant Babcock, and world water speed record project Quicksilver.

Mr Bulman said the company’s long term partnership with equipment supplier Faro, and the significant investment in new technology, has enabled it  to become a UK leader in the inspection of engineered components, offering an extensive range of equipment hire packages and on-site services.

Having grown to a 13-strong team, he said the emphasis is also on providing training and opportunities for the younger generation to enhance their skill levels and introduce them to new and exciting roles within the metrology sector.
