£6m investment in new cabs by logistics group Suttons

New Suttons-branded cab

International logistics and supply chain specialist Suttons Group is investing more than £6m in new cabs – the first in the UK road tanker fleet to feature the company’s modern new branding.

The company is purchasing around 70 new FM Volvo Globetrotter XL cabs as part of an ongoing replacement strategy to upgrade the existing vehicles, along with new tanker barrels and isotanks.

The cab specification has been modified from 2017, with extra-large cabs featuring an upgraded audio package and fridge.

In 2017, more than 200 tractor units were bought by the Widnes-based group costing £17m.

This continued investment is part of the company’s strategy to have assets that offer its customers the most effective, efficient and flexible solutions.

New updated branding has also been revealed with a plan to update all livery within the next five years.

Chief executive John Sutton said: “We are the UK’s largest bulk chemical logistics company and are continuing to grow with a number of key business wins. It’s therefore vital that we invest in the latest equipment and technology.”

He added: “The £6m investment is part of our five-year strategy for growth and the modernisation of our business.

“As part of this, we have refreshed our brand to represent our focus on advanced technology, excellent customer service and our continued focus on safety.”

Suttons operates in the UK with a fleet of more than 500 vehicles focused on the chemicals, gas and fuel sectors and internationally with key business centres in New Jersey, Houston, Chicago, Widnes, Antwerp, Ludwigshafen, Kuantan, Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo and Khobar.
