Lighting specialist creates the right ambience for exclusive clinic

One of Asco's lighting solutions

Stockport LED lighting specialist Asco Lights has completed a bespoke installation at a £3.4m Wilmslow clinic.

Cheshire-based Klnik is a luxury aesthetics and well-being venture aimed at high net-worth clients.

Asco, which was founded more than 20 years ago, designed and supplied a lighting system which provides a relaxing ambience for the clinic’s exclusive clientelle.

The firm adapts lighting systems to match peoples’ natural circadian rhythms to enhance health and well-being.

LED circadian lighting can aid the production of melatonin and dopamine in the body.

Melatonin affects the body’s ‘biological clock’ and tells the system when to be active, and when to rest.

Dopamine can improve a person’s mood and is trigged by neurotransmitters which react to lighting.

Asco Lights founder, Ajay Vasdev, said not only does the lighting have to adapt throughout the day, but also through the different seasons of the year.

He said, for a high-end boutique clinic, it was crucial to create a space that made both clients and staff feel comfortable and relaxed to ensure the best possible experience.

“Aesthetic procedures can make people feel anxious and stressed, especially in an unknown setting. Our lighting solutions meant the environment gave them a calming effect which helps to reduce nerves and create a sense of tranquillity.”

Mr Vasdev said the client wanted to create a unique setting and decided from an early stage that lighting would play a huge part in creating something very special.

He added: “I worked very closely with the clinic director, Dr Rosh, and Saria Thornton, practice manager, and their on-site electrical contractors.”

In the reception area Asco used an innovatie German-made product, Occhio Mito, a sleek, halo lighting that looks like it is floating: “It has the ability to ‘colour tune’. Over the reception desk we also dropped these at different heights to create a visual appeal for the area.

“The main corridor leading into different treatment rooms was another interesting space to illuminate and understand the ‘client’s journey’.

“We wanted to create a dimly-lit area giving it a tunnel effect. This created a stunning visual effect and indirect lighting to subtly guide clients to treatment rooms.”

For the treatment rooms a whiter light was used for functionality while carrying out procedures.

“We used a pendant that replicated clouds to add a chilled-out feel,” said Mr Vasdev.

“We also used wall lights creating an up-light effect in the same colour of the logo to marry with the reception.”

He added: “We are proud to have been involved in the design and supply in the lighting solutions at Klnik.

“We have a passion to create bespoke lighting that not only looks amazing, but also makes you feel great.

“With a huge amount of experience in the industry, we harmonise lighting with the principles of a company.”
