Work starts on £72m Salford development

Manchester-based property developer  Fortis Group  has started construction on its £72m Salford development.

Bridgewater Wharf on Ordsall Lane, the eight-storey PRS scheme will include 376 new homes, ranging from studio to three-bedroom apartments; three-bedroom townhouses; three and four-bedroom duplexes.

The high specification properties will include contemporary fixtures and fittings, balconies overlooking Manchester and Salford.

Secure cycle storage, a communal residents’ lounge and gym, and a number of parking including electric vehicle charging points will be available.

Construction is being carried out by Beaumont Morgan, the contractor arm of the Fortis Group, and is expected to complete in 2020.

The project team includes architects, Darnton B3; planning consultants, Lambert Smith Hampton; structural engineers, Scott Hughes Design; building services consultants, Mullins Associates Ltd. Off-plan sales to buy-to-let investors are being managed by Knight Knox.

Bridgewater Wharf is part of the company’s pipeline of more than 1,900 new homes to be delivered in Salford by 2020.

Spanning five developments in the area, Fortis Group’s investment in the area is set to top £340m, creating a total of 1.8 million sq. ft. of residential lproperties.
