Manchester restaurant is named best in city at awards ceremony

It may have missed out on a Michelin Star but Adam Reid at the French has once again been named the best restaurant in Manchester.
The restaurant, which is based at The Midland Hotel, won two awards at the annual Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
The festival has been celebrating its 21st anniversary and over the course of the festival 90,000 people attended various events.
The week culminated with the awards night which were held at the stunning Gorton Monastery.
The awards are the benchmark for the very high standards that have seen Manchester’s dining and drinking scene.
Adam Reid was recently named in the Good Food Guide as the best restaurant in Manchester and was also awarded four AA rosettes.

The restaurant won in two categories at the annual awards.
Restaurant of the Year
Recognising the ‘best of the best’ dining establishments in Greater Manchester in 2018. This category can feature restaurants of any style or price point.

Premium and Fine Dining Venue of the Year
This award recognises the best premium to fine dining establishments across the city.

Casual Restaurant of the Year
This award aims to recognise the best informal dining establishments in Manchester.

Newcomer of the Year
Celebrating the best new food and drink operations to open in Greater Manchester since the last awards decision period in June 2017.

Chef of the Year
Aiming to celebrate the most talented and outstanding work of chefs cooking in Greater Manchester kitchens – his or her skill, menu, commitment and contribution to the dining scene.

This category can include cafes, takeaways and any venue whereby the price point and service style mean that the overall concept is widely considered by customers to be a more of a ‘food on the go’ style of dining and a main meal and drink can be purchased for under £10.
