New occupiers sign up for North Liverpool redevelopment

Village Vets and The Aesthetics Hub are opening practices in Crosby, in Sefton, after signing deals with developer St Modwen.

The move adds to a growing number of new occupiers who have flocked to take premises in the redeveloped village centre following investment by the developer and regeneration specialist.

St Modwen paid £2.6m for a number of properties in the village before beginning renovations last June.

Village Vets Formby has signed a 10-year lease to occupy a 3,830 sq ft first floor unit at 10 Moor Lane, above newly-opened high-street fashion retailer Peacocks, and is due to open its state-of the-art facility next month.

The independent business opened its first veterinary surgery in Formby in 1953, and was purchased by Kate Higgins and Howard Goatley in 2012.

In addition to general practice, Village Vets also has visiting specialists in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology and ultrasound imaging, offering a referral-standard service for all pets.

Kate Higgins, prinicipal vet and owner at Village Vets Crosby, said: “This is extremely exciting for us.

“We have been looking for the right premises to locate our second practice for some time now and the newly-refurbished units within Glenn Buildings provides a perfect base for us.

“Being located in the centre of Crosby with excellent parking is ideal for our customers.

“We are a local independent business and enjoy being a part of the community where we are based, in Formby. We look forward to also becoming part of the community in Crosby while serving the needs of our new and existing customers.

“We’re already taking pre-registrations and will be keeping people up-to-date as the building progresses via our website and social media.”

The Aesthetics Hub, which specialises in non-surgical treatments, has also taken new premises in Glenn Buildings South.

Run by independent nurse prescriber Abbey McLaughlin, the new medical aesthetics clinic is relocating from Waterloo and will be situated above the Card Factory.

Work has already begun to transform the premises into a luxurious clinic due to open later this year.

Abbey said: “We are very excited about this expansion. Crosby Village is the perfect location for the business and we are delighted to have secured a long-term lease.

“The décor will fully complement the art deco building; it will be a medical aesthetics clinic that’s unparalleled in the North West.”

The relocation to Crosby Village marks a huge investment for the company.

The expansion will include three treatment rooms where a range of non-surgical treatments will be carried out.

Treatments include wrinkle-reducing injections, lip enhancement, dermal fillers, eye rejuvenation, medical grade skin care, peels and facials.

Andrew Day, asset manager at St Modwen, said: “We are pleased to see that the investment St Modwen has made in Crosby continues to revitalise the centre and bring a range of new occupiers to the village centre.

“The high quality of the retail units and office space has proved popular with occupiers. With only two units remaining, a function space and an office unit, we are confident that the available space will all soon be let.”

St Modwen were represented by Lambert Smith Hampton in both deals.

Village Vets and The Aesthetics Hub join a raft of occupiers who have made a commitment to Crosby, including high street fashion chain Peacocks, Costa Coffee, Card Factory, café bar Frankie’s and longstanding local business The Blues Bar.
