Crewe-based Radius Payment Solutions has acquired independent service provider in mobile and fixed line communications, Adam Phones, for an undisclosed sum.

Combining the vast experience and expertise of Adam Phones with Radius will ensure the fast-growing Crewe company can build a successful telecoms division, it said.

Based in London, Adam Phones has an enviable reputation spanning 30 years in the market supporting the critical connectivity of small, medium and large enterprises.

As one of the only service providers in the UK with licences to sell and support all three major mobile networks, Adam Phones integrates and unites a diverse range of products and services to deliver carefully crafted mobile and fixed line connectivity solutions.

Adam Phones and Radius will work together to continue building this leading business while also supporting the new telecoms division within the larger Radius group.

Bill Holmes, Radius Payment Solutions chief executive, said: “Radius has acquired a highly reputable business in a sector where we see huge potential for an offering to our core customers alongside their fuel cards and telematics products.

“We look forward to working with Adam and his team to build a successful telecoms division within the Radius Group.”

Adam Toop, chairman, and chief executive of Adam Phones, added: “Radius is a perfect home for Adam Phones and I’m delighted we will be joining forces.

“I’m hugely proud of my team and the company they have built with me over the last 30 years and I have no doubt that, together, we will continue to go from strength to strength, providing the very best service for all of our clients.

“This next chapter for Adam Phones, alongside Radius, will give us all the opportunity to expand our offerings to our existing and future clients, across many more markets. It’s going to be an exciting journey.”

This acquisition is the first since the £150m private equity investment from Inflexion in November 2017, and shows the intent of the shareholders to grow the business as quickly as possible, expanding into new sectors and geographies through both organic growth and M&A activity.

KPMG Ireland were the exclusive financial and advisory partners to Adam Phones on the transaction. Fox Williams was the legal adviser.

Radius was assisted on the transaction by EY (financial due diligence, led by Richard Harding and Paul Stott), Addleshaw Goddard (legal, including  partner Roger Hart and associates Oliver Hincks, Josh Nock, Jade Chan, Andana Streng, Alexandra Robinson, Vaila Berkeley and William Robertson) and Mazars (tax).
