ForViva unveils £3.2m apartment complex in Eccles

The opening of Narbonne House

ForViva Group has opened a £3.2m apartment complex in the heart of Eccles, Salford.

It takes spending by ForViva group member City West Housing Trust on transforming the town over the past decade to £127m.

This investment has regenerated communities across Eccles with 10 new housing developments worth close to £37m completed since 2008, creating more than 400 affordable homes.

Other investment has included a complete renovation of 12 high rises blocks and bringing thousands of properties up to decent homes standard by installing new bathrooms, kitchens and heating systems.

The latest development to be completed is the £3.2m Narbonne House scheme on Corporation Road.

The three-storey development includes 33 homes for affordable rent.

Built by Mangroves Estates and designed by Grays Architecture, the scheme received £944,000 of funding from Homes England and comprises 18 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments.

It was officially opened by a group of school pupils visiting from the town of Narbonne – which is twinned with Eccles.

Colette McKune, group deputy chief executive of ForViva, said: “This is another proud day for ForViva as we complete our 10th housing development in Eccles in the past decade.

“Over the past 10 years we have injected £127m into creating more than 400 much needed new homes and transformed thousands of properties that were in need of refurbishment.

“Building new homes is the best way we can tackle the ongoing housing crisis and create thriving communities. That’s why our work doesn’t stop here.

“We will continue to invest in Eccles and have more plans in the pipeline, including a £3.5m development of 44 homes specifically for people at risk of homelessness.”

Over the next 18 months ForViva plans to develop four more schemes worth a total of £8m across Salford.

The organisation is also set to invest £5m in improvements to its properties over the next three years.
