‘Third-wave’ coffee shop opens in Lancashire market town

A new ‘third-wave’ coffee shop has opened in the centre of Ormskirk, aided by advice from the commercial property team at Forbes Solicitors.

Bayferns Coffee House is welcoming customers to its premises in Burscough Street, offering a mixture of single origin coffee and signature blends.

The third-wave coffee shop produces high-quality coffee, and treats coffee as an artisanal foodstuff, like wine, rather than a commodity.

Managing Director Joanne Baybutt took a 10-year lease on the ground floor and first floor of the property, located near Wheatsheaf Walk in the busy pedestrianised area.

Throughout the process she was advised by the commercial property team at Lancashire solicitors Forbes, led by partner Richard Clithero.

Ms Baybutt said: “This was my first foray into commercial leasing, and Richard ensured I fully understood the process from the start, and successfully negotiated better terms on my lease.”

Bayferns is a shop dedicated to the roasting, drinking and selling of all things linked to coffee, for the real coffee connoisseur.

There is also a similar selection of many different teas and light bites.

Richard, who is based at Forbes’ central Lancashire office, said: “Joanne has given up a very successful teaching career in order to open this venture with a view to changing her family’s lives.

“We are delighted to have been able to advise her on this very important move and help secure a property in an excellent location.”
