Record year for software development specialist

Neil McMurdo

Godel, the software development company based in Manchester, has reported a record financial year as annual turnover reached £21.7m for the year to December 2018.

This is a 57% increase in turnover on 2017, when revenues reached more than £13.8m, and is the fourth year in a row where growth has exceeded 50%.

The company was once again ranked as one of the 2018 Hiscox Sunday Times Tech Track companies, a Deloitte Fast 500 company, the best performing company at the Megabuyte Emerging Stars Awards and was ranked 29th of 100 companies at the Northern Tech Awards.

Neil McMurdo was recently appointed as the company’s managing director to continue its path of growth, while Neil Turvin took up the role of executive chairman.

“The company goes from strength to strength and has won some extremely high-profile clients in 2018, including Voiteq, AccessPay, Secret Sales, MVF, Utilitywise and comparison site Comparethemarket.com – whilst our existing clients have also been scaling their requirements with us,” explaied Neil McMurdo.

“Godel works in partnership with these brands to share knowledge, experience and software engineering skills from its nearshored development centres of excellence in Belarus.”

He added: “There remains a shortage of experienced, senior software developers in the UK – those that do exist are fought over and can often name their price in the job market, pricing them out of the labour market for many fast-growing companies.

“Godel helps them deliver the engineering skills required to scale rapidly in line with customer requirements and maintain their growth.”

In 2018 Godel also opened another centre of excellence in Gomel, Belarus, bringing the company’s employee total to around 800 people across six offices in a total of five locations.
