Developer sells land with planning approval for 250 homes

The Anwyl site

Property company HIMOR has agreed the sale of a 21-acre site on Meriton Road, Handforth, in Cheshire, to North Wales and North West housebuilder Anwyl Homes, for an undisclosed sum.

HIMOR has already achieved outline consent for 250 new homes at the site, with affordable housing set to make up 30% of the development.

HIMOR led the transaction on behalf of a private landowner, having acted as land promoter for the site since 2014.

It continues to promote more than 2,000 acres of freehold-owned land and a further 1,000 acres of third party-owned sites for new development across the UK.

Peter Ainscough at HIMOR Land said: “This transaction represents a significant area of land being unlocked for development, which will deliver much-needed housing in Cheshire East, and benefits to the local economy.”

Phil Dolan at Anwyl Homes Cheshire & North Wales region said: “We have been building homes across North Wales and the North West of England for upwards of 80 years, creating developments that communities can be proud of.

“We are delighted to have worked with HIMOR and acquired the land at Meriton Road and now look forward to continuing this work with Cheshire East Council and the local community of Handforth to deliver these much needed new homes.”

HIMOR is a long-term investor in land and property, specialising in regeneration, development, land promotion and asset management.

It is currently delivering the first phase of Future Carrington in Manchester, one of the UK’s largest regeneration sites in the UK.

HIMOR was advised by Gateley and JLL, while Shoosmiths acted for Anwyl, and Mills & Reeve and Arcadian Estates represented the landowner.
