Property firm JLL is moving across Manchester to a new office block in St Peter’s Square.

The firm is the first letting in the Landmark office development and will move its 170 strong team from Piccadilly Gardens.

Investment manager Barings has agreed its first letting at the 180,000 sq ft office development on behalf of institutional investors.

JLL has signed a 15 year lease to relocate its 170-strong Manchester team from One Piccadilly Gardens into the 13,896 sq ft 10th floor of the Landmark office building.

The building is is currently under construction at St Peter’s Square. The Manchester office is JLL’s largest commercial office outside of London.

When completed in the autumn Landmark will offer 14 floors next generation office space with the largest floorplates currently available in the prime core of Manchester’s City Centre.

Virtually column-free, Landmark is being built with an offset core to enable not only large and efficient floorplates but also maximum flexibility to occupiers.

Major private and public sector investment has gone into the transformation of St Peter’s Square and the Civic Quarter in recent years.

This has led to several major occupiers moving to the area including KPMG and Handelsbanken.

Landmark, which has received support from Manchester City Council, will be the concluding project for the St Peter’s Square business district.

Ian Mayhew, Managing Director at Barings, said; “We have worked incredibly hard to design and deliver much needed offices in Manchester’s premier business district that appeal to forward-thinking organisations like JLL.

“To have secured such a high-profile global occupier as our first pre-letting at Landmark is an excellent result that endorses our strategy.

“Interest for the remaining space in Landmark is strong and we look forward to announcing further transactions in due course.”

Stephen Hogg, Lead Director – North West at JLL, said; “We set our objective to relocate to best in class offices to provide our valued Manchester team and our clients with a dynamic, inspiring workplace and as a result we are delighted to be taking space within Barings’ Landmark scheme.

“We recognise the building’s commercial benefits around its highly efficient floor plates as well as the amazing reception along with first class design credentials and digital and physical connectivity.

“In addition, Landmark offers outstanding environmental characteristics that resonate with our corporate sustainability ambitions.

“We are excited to be moving our North West team to what we consider to be one of the most prestigious addresses in the city centre and are looking forward to joining the St Peter’s Square business community.”
