Building firm lands two major education contracts

New school

Building firm Eric Wright Construction has secured two new contracts through the Department of Education’s major public sector framework.

Designed by JM Architects and Pozzoni respectively, the schemes include Preston Muslim Girls High School and Kings Leadership Academy in Bolton.

The work will include demolition, new build and installation of temporary accommodation to provide fresh and modern facilities for students.

Preston Muslim Girls High School currently operates across two separate buildings and the new scheme will help bring more students together under one roof offering better accommodation for learners.

At Kings Leadership Academy EWC are providing two temporary buildings to allow the school to operate while their proposed new school is under construction.

EWC have extensive knowledge and experience of the education sector and were appointed to the DfE Low Value Framework for projects up to £4.5m in November 2017.

The Lancashire firm has delivered several schools under the previous DfE Framework including Khalsa Science Academy, Burnley High School and more recently Pioneer Primary School and Queen Elizabeth Studio School.

Director James Eager said: “The DfE framework gives us the opportunity to work collaboratively with schools and use our specialist education experience to provide innovative, cost effective solutions to promote learning.

“There is an increasing demand on school places in the North West and EWC are honoured to play a part in creating new facilities in which our youngsters can thrive and contribute to meeting the demand for future generations.”
