Land next to former metal recycling plant to be site of 154 high quality homes

A typical Bellway street scene

Groundworks have commenced on a new residential development in Mosley Common, Wigan.

Located on Mosley Common Road, the 13.10 acre site is next to a former metal recycling plant and will be transformed by housebuilder Bellway into an attractive development of 154 high-quality new-build homes.

Bellway Homes has purchased land which was formerly Worsley Buiness Park.
This site adjoins to the current Maxilead Limited metal recycling facility, which is still operating from this existing site until their move to Atherton in 2020.
Once moved the metal recycling facility will be demolished to make room for a new community hub including a proposed health centre, childrens day nursey along with retail and food outlets.

Reflecting its history, the development will be known as Elements and comprise a mix of three- and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes, all with garages or off-road parking.

A select number of different house types will be available, all of which feature well planned layouts that make maximum use of light and space and have been designed with modern living in mind.

Plus, as with every new home from Bellway, properties also benefit from open-plan fitted kitchens, contemporary family bathrooms and en suites to the master bedroom.

Sales director at Bellway Homes, Hollie Reynolds, said: “We’re delighted to announce our plans for Elements in Mosley Common.

“The development boasts a superb location close to good local schools and with strong transport links into Manchester and across the wider North West.

“A great blend of properties will be available appealing to a wide range of purchasers and all homes will be sold on a freehold basis.”

As part of the planning application and reflecting its continued commitment to the communities in which it builds, Bellway Homes is making Section 106 contributions totalling £781,248 that include £30,000 towards bus stops, £188,750 toward primary education and £392,600 towards secondary education, a travel plan contribution of £2,500 and play equipment provision of £167,398.

Construction at Elements is expected to take around two years.
