Anger as administrators called in to hotels group

The Hashtag Hotels Liverpool site

A fledgling hotels group has fallen into administration, with some staff claiming they have not been paid “for weeks”.

Hashtag Hotels was founded in London and incorporated on March 4, this year, according to Companies House records.

The chain has 17 hotels across the country, as well as the Republic of Ireland, including a Liverpool operation near the Birkenhead tunnel, opposite the main Liverpool John Moores University building.

However, today (August 28), all social media outlets for the business were unavailabe and staff claim they received an email message informing them they had been made redundant.

It said that due to the chain’s financial position it was unable to pay staff any arrears, holiday, redundancy or compensatory notice pay.

The email advised the affected staff to make any claims via a Government website.

Business rescue and recovery specialist Leonard Curtis today confirmed that it has been appointed as administrators to the business, which, according to its website, was founded by Nash Cohen and Simon Gilbert.

Other directors include Richard Basch, Jonathan Harvey and Oliver Lindsay.

However, not all of the group’s staff have been made redundant. It was reported that around half the team at the Liverpool site have kept their jobs, although it is unclear what will happen to them.

One former worker at the Liverpool site, who left before the administration, said friends who still worked for Hashtag Hotels had told him they had gone “for weeks” without pay.

Another former employee said news of the administration had been met with “anger” among staff.
