Topping out will mark milestone for hotel scheme

A Blackpool developer will celebrate the topping out of its Manchester hotel scheme next week.

Create Developments and Create Construction, part of Create Group, will host the event next Monday, September 16, at its Hampton By Hilton hotel project in Sharp Street, along with Maven Capital Partners and Hilton.

The event will be in celebration of the building reaching its maximum height, with the installation of the top level, following a tight construction timetable which began in January 2018.

Hosted by key members of the management teams from Create, Maven and Hilton, guests will include representatives of the joint venture, funding, design, construction, development, project delivery and subcontractor teams, as well as members of the industry press and RBH Hospitality Management, who will be responsible for the operation of the hotel when it opens.

The £17.5m development is the second Hampton by Hilton hotel project brought to fruition by Create Group, developed by Create Developments and built by Create Construction – the first being the hugely successful £9.45m new-build hotel in Blackpool which was completed in May 2018.

The hotel team won an internal Hilton award for fastest Hampton ramp-up, after just three months of trading.

Adrian Tottey, Create Construction managing director, said: “Create Construction and Create Developments have brought to the table considerable experience in the delivery of high-volume accommodation and we are so pleased to have reached the topping out stage on this prestigious project in Manchester for Maven, IP Investment Management and Hilton.”

The new hotel is being built just as Manchester is experiencing exceptionally high levels of development and when hotel markets are enjoying record-breaking performance within most regions of the UK.

The scheme will provide 221 rooms and is situated in Manchester city centre’s Northern Quarter on a tight, logistically-challenging site, close to the Co-op Noma Development, Manchester Arena, the busy city centre and national transport links.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said: “The regeneration of Manchester’s Northern Quarter has brought new investment into the city, resulting in a vibrant, creative neighbourhood – the ideal location in which to introduce our first Hampton by Hilton hotel.

Work currently under way on site

“With business in Manchester thriving, and more and more tourists visiting the city’s cultural and sporting attractions, demand for our brands is rising. We’re pleased to be, once again, working with Create Developments, this time in conjunction with IP Investment Management of Hong Kong and Maven Capital Partners UK, to deliver another standout hotel to the UK market.”

Andrew Whiteley, of Maven Capital Partners, said: “We are thrilled to be extending our investment activities in Manchester through this exciting hotel development and it’s great to see the excellent progress being made.

“The fact that we have committed to developing this hotel with our partners at IPIM is illustrative of the huge potential we see in Manchester where we are also involved in the management of the Greater Manchester Loan fund and the Northern Powerhouse Fund.”

Adrian, from Create, concluded: “Create’s company values of ‘Integrity’, ‘creativity’ and ‘easy to do business with’ has allowed us to build a significant relationship with Hilton and Maven and we hope that we will be collaborating with them on many more quality hotel projects in the future.”
