Property group opens the door to three new student developments

Vita's Manchester property

Cheshire property group Vita has opened the doors to three new Vita Student residences in Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, boosting its portfolio by 25% for the 2019/20 academic term.

Its Pebble Mill residence in Birmingham is built on the former BBC site in Edgbaston and comprises 360-studio apartments as well as 7,000 sq ft of social spaces, including lounges, private dining rooms, a movie room, gym and study areas. Built by Morgan Sindall, it is the first Vita Group product to be launched in the city.

Its 376-bed St Alban’s, Leeds, scheme is also the first Vita Student for the city, with a second residence currently under construction at Portland Crescent. Constructed by Kier, the St Alban’s residence boasts 8,000 sq ft of social space, including an amphitheater to hold inspirational career talks, as well as the usual movie room, private dining room, gym and social areas the brand has become known for.

The group has also added a fourth residence to its Manchester portfolio, with a 384-bed residence now open at Circle Square. Bringing a different offering to its three neighbours in the city, this 17-storey building, constructed by Bowmer and Kirkland, focuses on cluster living. Each storey contains six en suite bedrooms which share luxury lounges and kitchen areas on each floor.

Vita Group chief executive Mark Stott said: “There are huge growth plans for Vita Student and I’m delighted to see another three residences open.

“The team has done an exceptional job of making sure all residences were delivered on time and to meet our high expectations of quality and finish, and we’re looking forward to continuing this momentum over the coming months as we enter new cities across the UK and overseas.”

Vita Student currently has a further three residences under construction across Nottingham, Cardiff and Leeds, with more projects soon to be announced.

Vita Group recently announced a £600m investment from DWS, with the deal allowing Vita Group to scale its growth both domestically and internationally, with a significant future pipeline which includes the first international scheme in Barcelona.

It has also recently added Sir Howard Bernstein to its board, former chief executive of Manchester City Council, who will add strategic direction to its customer-focused brands.
