Work begins on £5.3m Cheshire office scheme

The proposed scheme

Construction of a new £5.3m office development in Cheadle Royal Business Park has commenced.

Bolton construction group Seddon is delivering the project on behalf of national urban regeneration specialist, Muse Developments, with the offices eventually being occupied by Dow Chemicals.

Designed by Manchester-based architects Leach Rhodes Walker, the 26,037 sq ft self-contained unit will house Dow Chemicals’ national management team, technical and sales office, and a product research and development facility.

Construction of the two-storey, steel framework office space will be finished to a high specification and is estimated to take 37 weeks, concluding in May 2020.

Cheadle Royal Business Park is a £175m development delivered by Muse.

Set in mature parkland close to major national and international transport links, including Manchester Airport, it benefits from access to a range of on-site amenities, including shops, bars, restaurants and health facilities.

Seddon previously delivered two projects on the business park for Muse in 2008.

Ian Matthews, operations manager at Seddon, said: “We are proud to be maintaining our long-standing relationship with Muse and working on a third project at the business park with them.

“Stockport continues to establish itself as a prime location for growing businesses and we are excited to contribute to its bright future with this latest development.”

Tom Webber, senior development surveyor at Muse, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Seddon to the team to progress the delivery of this fantastic new facility for Dow, and we look forward to working with them, Dow and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council over the coming months.

“Dow is a major blue-chip company, who will bring highly-skilled jobs and investment to the borough, and we’re proud to break ground on its new UK and Ireland HQ.”
