Bruntwood toasts bumper Weightmans letting

BRUNTWOOD has clinched the largest commercial letting in the North West this year with a 94,000 sq ft deal with law firm Weightmans.

The firm, which recently merged with smaller North West rival Mace & Jones, is moving to The Plaza on a 15-year lease.

The move marks one of the largest lettings in Bruntwood’s history and the largest private sector letting in Liverpool for six years.

The family-owned property-group has invested £24m into the Plaza since buying it in 2003 which includes the £2.4m reception entrance relocation to St Paul’s Square.

Weightmans is moving from its office in India Buildings, Water Street, after the  Mace & Jones deal took staff numbers to more than 1,000.

David Guest, regional director for Bruntwood, said: “This is such a significant letting, not just for Bruntwood, but Liverpool and the North West and was hotly contested between landlords in the region.

“A letting this large is testament to the high-quality office space we provide and the level of service and care given to our customers throughout the lifetime of the lease.”

David Lewis, head of the Weightmans’ Liverpool office, said: “This move will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Liverpool office – reflecting our confidence in the business and our determination to provide an excellent working environment for our people and flagship headquarters from where we can welcome and service clients.”

Colin Forshaw, head of sales for Bruntwood, added: “We are thrilled Weightmans chose The Plaza, as the firm’s new base. As one of our most popular buildings, it continues to attract a wealth of companies, large and small, looking for the very best office suites.”
