Premier League champions Manchester City set a new revenues record for the 2018-19 season, scoring a £535.2m turnover win compared with £500.5m the previous year.

Turnover included £55m of matchday income, £85.7m in broadcasting revenues from UEFA, and a total broadcast figure of £252m.

Other commercial activities reaped £226.9m.

This was the club’s 11th successive year of revenue growth and is likely to be extended again this season with City once again involved in the lucrative Champions League competition.

With a £45m-a-year Puma kit deal set to start, the club is consistently closing the gap on its Manchester rival, United, the Premier League’s current richest team which is forecasting a fall in annual revenues to between £560m and £580m due to its failure to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Profits for Manchester City came in at £10.1m, down from £10.4m previously, and its wage/turnover ratio was 59%.

Last season the club amassed six trophies between its men’s and women’s teams, including a clean sweep of all four domestic trophies for the men of The Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.

City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak said: “This level of sustained success is possible for many reasons, but in particular because of our people and, critically, because of our ability to plan.

“As intended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour, our organisation is now at a level of maturity that enables us to plan on multi-year cycles both in terms of our management of squads and more widely across the business.”

Chief executive Ferran Soriano said: A combination of our commercial success and our cost management enabled us to exceed £500m in revenues for the second season in a row and post a profit for the fifth season in a row.

“Manchester City is a consolidated, economically sustainable operation that will continue to use its financial strength to fuel its growth.”
