Major business conference to take place in Manchester
A major conference looking at the issues of human rights and business is to take place in Manchester.
Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights UK is staging the first ever Ripples of Hope Business and Investment Summit in the city in January.

Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the first female prime minister of Denmark, has already been confirmed as a keynote speaker.
Other speakers at the summit – taking place at Manchester’s centre for international contemporary art, theatre and film HOME – include activist and business owner Gina Miller and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights President Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy.
The summit will present an opportunity for leadership development and cross-sector senior decision-makers from the business, finance and technology communities to explore how they and their organisations can be champions for the creation of a more human world.
Kerry Kennedy said: “My father once said ‘The future is not a gift. It’s an achievement’.
“With its history of social activism and forward-looking industry, Manchester is the perfect home for us, and I am grateful to Sir Richard Leese and Andy Burnham for their welcome.”
Other speakers include chief executive of HSBC UK Ian Stuart, Paul Lindley OBE, Founder of Ella’s Kitchen, Author of The Triple Bottom Line John Elkington, Kim Polman, Reboot the Future Founder, mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, leader of Manchester City Council Sir Richard Leese and 53˚ Capital founder Jason Stockwood.
Those attending can expect to discuss the likely impact of the dynamics shaping the future, ask challenging questions about how our businesses have to adapt, reflect on and develop their role, capacity and skills as a leader and return to their organisation with practical steps and a powerful sense of how they can build a successful and people-focused future.
The Ripples of Hope Festival will take place across Greater Manchester from February 11 to February 14 in 2021 – with more details being revealed publicly during January’s summit.
Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights UK said its vision is to build the Festival – supported by Manchester City Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority – to be an international events platform by 2025.
The Ripples of Hope Festival will not only take place in Greater Manchester – it will also be created, designed and developed in partnership with its people.
