Pioneering family restaurant concept to bring jobs to Cheshire

Plans for the Sticky Paws in The Flavour Forest scheme

Launching in early 2020, ‘Sticky Paws in The Flavour Forest’, is bringing a new type of family dining and entertainment experience to Northwich, with a recruitment drive already under way.

The team behind the hugely successful Tattenhall tourist attraction, The Ice Cream Farm, has partnered with Cheshire West and Chester Council to open the new restaurant and play concept at Barons Quay shopping centre.

The innovative concept is part of a business growth strategy that has recognised the huge gap in the market and the need to drive footfall in the retail sector.

The company’s ethos is to create a fun, stress-free, family-focused experience, with an ‘inclusive not exclusive’ approach that applies to the working environment, too. With flexible and sociable working hours, Sticky Paws is aimed at being understanding of people’s varying circumstances outside of work.

The Ice Cream Farm underwent a successful multimillion-pound redevelopment in 2015 and director Jonathan Fell has been working with the council for more than a year to develop ‘Sticky Paws in the Flavour Forest’, which will be unique to Barons Quay.

The partnership is part of a new drive by Cheshire West Council to adapt to changes in retail, revitalise the ‘high street’ and work with successful independent businesses, as well as national chains, to deliver a mixed customer offer unique to Northwich.

Jonathan Fell said: “This new attraction has been in the making for over a year and a lot of time and care has been put into getting it right.

“We’re getting closer to the opening and really looking forward to recruiting some incredible colleagues to join our talented team. The whole company ethos is to create a fun, stress-free, family-focused experience – and this extends to how we treat our team, too.

“As a company we want to encourage a healthy work/life balance and are passionate about developing our staff both within and outside of the workplace. The working day isn’t just a standard 9-5 anymore and we understand that people have varying circumstances and commitments.”

He added: “These jobs will bring a lot of opportunity to the local area and demonstrate how Northwich is a thriving town with a mixed offering of leisure and retail.”

Around 20 jobs will be created.

The unique attraction, which is targeted at young families, is set to be unlike anything seen before in the indoor leisure sector and aims to make play and eating out with children an easy and enjoyable experience.

The eatery, ‘Sticky Paws’ will have 180 covers and will offer wholesome food with familiar favourites delivered and presented in an innovative way, that encourage children to try new foods and make food fun.

The menu will consist of small individual dishes, enabling visitors to share and try new things and spend as much or as little as they like.

‘Flavour Forest’ will be a bespoke indoor play area incorporating every element of play including, climbing, sliding and bouncing, allowing children to explore and be adventurous.
